It's not just 'another app' - I promise! And if you're an extrovert like me, it's a perfect fit for us to chat away, share info/perspectives that we may not hear otherwise. And it's SO GOOD to hear and be IN conversations again, after so long. It is also great for introverts to listen in and still participate - then, when you are prepared to step out of your comfort zone and take on a room or speak, you will get an audience because the way it works is to join up your Twitter and your Instagram profiles and people will follow through to engage and to use those direct messaging capabilities.
Clubhouse is audio-based, which is a good idea to add personality in our virtual worlds. A lot of differences we have in these worlds is because of the coldness of the written word. Texts and messaging can lose intent and tone in typing. In CH you can hear it for yourself!
If you listen to podcasts, if you listen to radio, then it will give you a better variety of content to listen to, because you can cruise the hallways and pick a room where they’re having a discussion on a topic that is really super hyper targeted to you. It's like walking the halls of a convention center and visiting topics that you are truly interested in. Now on the flip side, you can also run rooms and create clubs on the topics that you’re interested in. You can create leadership. So I think it’s important to get into Clubhouse early, because I think it’s here to stay.
:: The moderator ~ someone controlling the room
:: The speaker ~ someone who’s been pulled up from the audience and can speak
:: The audience ~ they can just sit there and listen
:: You need an iPhone ~ only OS for now - sorry Android users
:: Set up your username ~ that identifies you clearly and resonates with you
:: You need to be INVITED to join ~ so ask your friends/colleagues that have you in their phone contacts to invite you! If none of them are in it, sign up and hopefully someone you know will see that someone in their contacts is waiting to be let in to the club
:: Write your profile bio ~ keep top of mind that the first 3 lines are your elevator pitch lines. You can have a bio of any length, but those first 3 lines are what is visible, to be engaging enough for people to click on and read more - then, you can put any and everything you want in the body of the bio
:: Start following people of interest to you, your career, your world! Click on the bell next to their name if you want to be notified whenever they are speaking - or not. It's a great way to not miss a conversation from someone in particular that you really like.
It is really worth your time, in my opinion friends. I love it! I am excited about new member-friends and sparks of ingenuity that are zinging about in my head from listening to so many types of conversations and people. It's so hard to turn it off sometimes, that's how much fun I am having chatting or listening in. Do be careful about spending too much time though. I noticed some influencers are spending up to 12 hours a day on the platform, they talk about how it’s four in the morning and they didn’t sleep! I like my bed too much for that ... but yes, it can be addictive to hear and engage with others and their energies, so I can't wait to hear how you utilize Clubhouse, too.
Connect with me @LeighBrown on the Clubhouse App - and I'll see you around the hallways ...
