Fair Housing Compliance - Is your brokerage safe?

For those that read my recent article on the $16,000 question or saw my video, here you will find important information on the topic of Fair Housing Compliance from The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and NC REALTORS®.

They have you covered with Fair Housing tools and resources you can implement today.

Noncompliance with Fair Housing laws is a risk that responsible brokers simply cannot assume as a cost of doing business. Do you need to re-energize your fair housing compliance program?

The National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) has numerous resources to help you in this effort. In fact, they've recently revamped their Fair Housing landing page, nar.realtor/fair-housing, to be a "one-stop shop" for the latest information and core Fair Housing resources, including free downloads and training materials. Here are a few examples:

  • The Fair Housing chapter of the Real Estate Brokerage Essentials (now a free download)
  • NAR's Fair Housing video (now a free download)
  • Free digital downloads from the REALTOR® Store of nearly every fair housing brochure, handbook and publication

In addition, NAR recently passed a Fair Housing Action Plan, abbreviated 'ACT' to emphasize (A)ccountability, (C)ulture Change, and (T)raining, to ensure America's 1.4 million REALTORS® are doing everything possible to protect housing rights in America. You can read more about that plan here.

NC REALTORS® is committed to making sure you have the most accurate information and tools to promote fair housing. We'll keep you updated as the ACT program develops, and as more guidance and resources are made available. You can find the latest information at ncrealtors.org/fairhousing.
