I have one of my Grandma’s old fashioned cake recipes for you! This Buttermilk Pound Cake recipe never goes out of style and simply melts in your mouth. ⁣You can pair it with fruit and fresh whipped cream and serve with coffee to make one of the best desserts for your family and friends.

INGREDIENTS:

2 C Dixie Crystals sugar

2 sticks butter, room temperature

3 eggs, room temperature

3 C White Lily Flour

1/2 C Buttermilk, shaken

1 tsp flavoring – vanilla, lemon, or almond extract

1/4 teaspoon Morton's Kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

INSTRUCTIONS:

PREP: Preheat over to 325°

Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy with the mixer on medium speed.
Add each egg, one at a time, blending after each addition. Add both extracts.
Turn the mixer down to low and add the salt, baking soda and flour mixture a little at a time until it is all added.
Grease and flour pan. Pour the cake batter into the pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
Bake for 1-1/4 hour in preheated oven or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out *almost* clean.

SECRET TIP:

Jump up and down near your stove, make some big racket. You need to be really aggressive in the space, near your oven so your pound cake can get a sad streak.

You’ll notice that on a good pound cake you get that little top cracked ring going on, which is, frankly, just a lot of goodness. When I put my knife in to see if it's done, it should come out with just a little gushy goodness, which tells me there's a sad streak from jumping up and down.
