Welcome back to My Kitchen! My Rules!
Get you some beans, ya’ll! Pinto beans are an extremely nutritious side dish. Or, even better – paired with my Southern Cast Iron Skillet Cornbread! They're an excellent source of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. These nutrients may provide several benefits, including improved blood sugar control and heart health, are also rich in various antioxidants and may help lower your risk of chronic disease! Delicious and healthy!?!? Sounds like a winner to me!
Pinto beans are the most popular dried beans in America. They’re a variety of the common bean, which is frequently used in Mexican cuisine. Pinto beans are beige with reddish-brown specks when dried but become a solid light brown or pale pink when cooked. They have an earthy, almost nutty flavor and are simple to prepare. A great addition to your healthy diet go-to’s!
The best thing about eating beans is the joy they bring with both little effort and little price. And they fill up both my belly and my heart, with good, warm feelings of health, love and home. They are my comfort food. Hope they make it to your favorite list, too!
EXTRA RECIPE IDEAS:
Inexpensive, shelf-stable, and filling, pinto beans make the perfect start to a number of easy weeknight means. The mild flavor can take on heat, smoke, or other seasonings, while the creamy texture lends itself to bean dips, spreads, and chilis. Pinto beans should always be a staple in your pantry.
